What an incredible afternoon once again! 39 students from three local primary schools met in a mixed gender round robin tournament, playing each other once in seven aside, 16 minute games.
A defining feature of this tournament was its requirement for teams to field a minimum of three boys and three girls at all times, with the seventh player’s gender selected at the coach’s discretion, with all participants having to being Year 3 students only. This structure encouraged children to collaborate and integrate with peers they might not typically play alongside in competitive settings.
A huge thank you to our volunteers from Newbury College once again, who refereed on their work experience, the supportive teachers for their help and support from each of the primary schools, the encouraging parents on the sidelines and most importantly, the amazing children who brought the energy, excitement and competitiveness to the afternoon!
A huge shoutout to Hungerford Primary also, for hosting today’s fixtures! This was grately appreciated!
Results from this afternoon were as follows:
1st – John Rankin 7pts +19GD
2nd – Hungerford Blue’s 7pts +8GD
3rd – Hungerford White’s 3pts
4th – Winchcombe 0pts
Huge congratulations to John Rankin, for taking the win this time round on goal difference and to every school and student that took part – a fantastic, successful afternoon, where we narrowly avoided the bad weather!
Here’s to many more events!
