Founder & Director, Head Coach – SA Sports Ltd

Sam Adnams

Sam Adnams is the driving force behind SA Sports Ltd, bringing over a decade of experience in coaching and inspiring children through sport. With a background rooted entirely in sport and education, Sam has dedicated his career to working with primary school children, spending the last four years thriving as a school sports coach.

His passion for youth development shines through in everything he does—from coaching over 20 different sports, to organising inter-school competitions, to running daily clubs that get kids moving, learning, and having fun. Sam’s approach is energetic, hands-on, and always focused on building confidence and teamwork.

Sam is a qualified Higher Level Teaching Assistant (HLTA), an FA Level 1 Football Coach, and an FA Level 1 Talent Identifier in Football. His qualifications support his deep understanding of how to engage, encourage, and develop children through sport—on and off the field. In September 2024, Sam was recognised for his outstanding contribution to school sport by receiving the ‘Outstanding Teacher Contribution to School Sport – Primary’ award for 2023–2024 in West Berkshire.

Sam is also the NDPSFA Schools Fixture Manager, liaising with over 40 schools across Berkshire to coordinate the 15 annual competitions, tournaments, and cups run by Newbury District each academic year. Before Sam volunteered for the role, the district offered just 10 events—clearly highlighting the scale of his impact and his ongoing drive to grow opportunities for school sport.

Most recently, Sam has designed and launched a primary school football league aimed specifically at non-competitive children in the local area. This innovative initiative allows more pupils to take part in competitive scenarios—regardless of ability—and helps schools offer a broader, more inclusive football experience across the district.

Outside of work, Sam is a committed sportsman himself. He’s spent 15 seasons with his local rugby club, progressing from junior to senior level and even captaining the team for a season. His experience off the field includes helping organise and manage team operations—further proof of his dedication, leadership, and legendary organisation skills.

When he’s not coaching or playing, Sam enjoys a round of golf with his peers or spectating just about every sport going. And just in case you’re wondering—yes, he was the second-best Under 13 shot putter in the district when he was younger!
